10K Swim
10k Orientation/Safety Meeting and Webinar
All first-time Horsetooth 10K swimmers and those requesting Organizer Supplied Paddlers MUST attend the Orientation/Safety Meeting.
The meeting will be Saturday, September 7, at TBD pm.
The location is the Translational Medicine Institute (TMI), at Colorado State University – 2350 Gillette Dr, Fort Collins, CO 80523
If you have swum the Horsetooth 10K before and are supplying your own paddler, you can attend the Orientation/ Safety Webinar instead of the Orientation Meeting.
The Orientation/Safety Webinar dates and times will be announced later
If you are unable to make any of these days/times, please contact the race organizers as soon as possible.
10k Race Day Schedule

- 5:00 am – Buses start loading 10K swimmers and paddlers, water craft loaded onto truck at:
- Holiday Twin Theater, 2206 S Overland Trail, Fort Collins, parking lot.
- 5:30 am – Buses (and watercraft truck) leave for Satanka Cove with swimmers and paddlers (if you miss the bus, you miss the race)
- 6:00 am – Buses arrive at Satanka Cove, watercraft unloaded, swimmers are body marked and final check in. Both swimmers and paddlers must check in!
- 6:30 am – Paddler and swimmer meetings
- 6:45 am – Paddlers enter water and move into place
- 6:50 am – Swimmers may enter water for warm-up
- 6:55 am – Swimmers must exit the water and line up on the ramp.
- 7:00 am – Swim starts from Satanka Cove (3 waves)
- 11:00 am – Awards presentation (Might be cancelled depending on pandemic gathering requirements)
- 12:00 pm – Swim closes, any remaining swimmers removed from water
Shuttle buses (from South Bay to Holiday Twin) will return swimmers and paddlers to The Holiday Twin parking beginning at 10:00 am and run until everyone is back to their vehicle. A box truck will be provided for watercraft. You may load your boat on the truck at any time. It will be unloaded at the parking lot and will be watched over until you arrive.

- 6:30 am – Paddler meeting
- 6:40 am – Paddlers enter water and move into positions
- 6:46 am – Swimmer meeting
- 7:00 am – Swim starts in this order:
- Collegiate Wave
- 2.4M Wave
- 1.2M Wave
- 9:00 am – Awards presentation
