Horsetooth ReservoirCourse was out and back of ~6.2miles from the Sail and Saddle Club, ~62-70F(it really varied that much)
Check here for a satellite view of the "lake" that year. The swim started at the Sail and Saddle club (black X at the bottom of the middle "pond"). It went north (up) following the right hand shore to the thin channel (water level was about 10feet below the rest of the lake bed here), through that and to the X turn around in the north "pond". Then you turned around and swam back. Water temperature in the north "pond" was ~70F. Water temperature in the south pond was ~62F. The channel also had a current that flowed south to north, so the trip back was against the current.
