2.4M/1M Race Day Instructions 2009

Just one week to the 10K Swim! Water temp: 73 F

Thank you for registering for the 2009 Horsetooth Swim. This letter is intended to answer some of the questions regarding your event.

Parking
Parking will be at Hughes Stadium. The parking lot will open at 5 am. There will be buses to transport race participants and well wishers from the parking lot to the race venue. PARKING AT THE RACE SITE WITHOUT A STATE PARK PARKING PASS WILL RESULT IN A TICKET issued by an ever watchful park ranger.

Check In
Pre Race Registration/Packet Pick Up-will be 5-6 pm August 15, 2009 at

First Presbyterian Church
531 S. College Ave
Fort Collins, CO 80524

Race day check in will be conducted at the race venue. Race Day check in will open at 5:00 am.

This process will consist of: checking of USMS/USS membership card, signing of the race release form, assignment of race numbers, body marking, issue of swim caps and t-shirts. ALL PARTICIPATING SWIMMERS MUST SHOW A VALID USMS/USS MEMBERSHIP CARD. One day $10 memberships will be available at check in.

Final Safety/Race Procedure Brief – This final briefing will take place at the start/finish line. This briefing will take place at 6:45am.

2.4 Mile Race Start
This will take place at the start/finish line. The 2.4 Mile Race start will take place at 7:00 am. There will be a mass start of the 2.4 mile and 1 mile swims.

1 Mile Race Start
This will take place at the start/finish line. The 1 Mile Race start will take place at 7:00 am. There will be a mass start of the 2.4 mile and 1 mile swims.

1 Mile Race Awards Ceremony
This will take place at the race venue. The 1 Mile Race Awards Ceremony will take place following the arrival of the last swimmer (we estimate this to be about 8:15am). Certificates will be awarded to all successful finishers.

2.4 Mile Race Awards Ceremony
This will take place at the race venue. The 2.4 Mile Race Awards Ceremony will take place following the arrival of the last swimmer (we estimate this to be about 9:15am). Certificates will be awarded to all successful finishers.

A Few Administrative Notes:

Post race food will be available for racers. Burritos will also be sold ($4) with proceeds going to Team Fort Collins.
If for some reason you are unable to finish the event please ensure that the race recorders are notified. This prevents much confusion and ballyhoo on the part of the race organizers.
It is our goal to provide a safe and enjoyable race. Please thank the volunteers who make this event possible.
