1.2 Mile Race Details

This race is an out-and-back from the South Bay swim beach. The course will start on the beach, go 0.6 miles out, turn around a buoy and return finishing out of the water, on the beach.


The 1.2 Mile event is open to all United States Masters Swmming (USMS) registered swimmers and any USA Swimming (USAS) registered swimmer at least 11 years of age.


No wetsuits. Swimmers must wear the race swim cap.

USMS swimwear rules apply. USMS rules available here. Please check the website as the race approaches for the latest rules. In addition to this list, the Horsetooth Swim has the following restriction: both men and women are allowed suits that go to just above the knees (jammer style) and may cover the shoulders as long as it is not made from material that gives floatation or traps air. Torso-type suits are legal.

5:30 am - Check in opens at south end swim beach

6:30 am - All swimmers checked in

6:45 am - Swimmer meeting

7:00 am - Race starts from south end swim beach

8:45 am – Awards presentation in tadem with the 2.4 mile swims

Registration & Fee Deadlines

2014 registration fees and deadlines to be announced by April 1, 2014

$12 - USMS One Event registration (18 and over)*

$12 - USAS One Day registration (18 and younger)*

The fees cover safety (Dive Rescue, EMTs), t-shirt, awards. A significant portion is a donation in support of Team Fort Collins.

*The USMS One Event or USAS One Day registration is required if you are not a member of United States Masters Swimming (USMS) or USA Swimming (USAS). This one-day fee covers insurance requirements for the race. No one will be allowed to swim without proof of membership or having paid the one-day fee.
