Horsetooth 2.4 Mile Swim info - USAS (non-wetsuit)

Each swimmer must either be a member of USAS (18 or younger) or purchase a race day membership.

Note that in the USAS swim does NOT allow the swimmer to wear a wetsuit. Only the 2.4 mile USMS swim classification allows that, and only for those 18 or older.

Race Date

Date: August 15, 2010
Location: Satanka Cove, Horsetooth Reservoir

The swim will start by the boat ramp in Satanka Cove and leave the cove headed 1.2miles south to a large Orange buoy. At that point the swimmers will turn around and head back north to finish where they started.

Checkin

Race day check in will be conducted at the race venue. Race Day check in will open at 5:00 am.

Registration

Online Registration Closes: August 6th, 2010 12:01am Pacific. NO raceday registration

These fees cover safety(Dive Rescue, EMTs), t-shirt, awards, etc. A One Day USAS (18 or younger) registration is required if you are not a member of United States Swimming (USAS). This membership covers insurance requirements for the race. No one will be allowed to swim without proof of membership or having payed the one day fee.

Rules

Eligibility:

The 2.4 mile USAS event is open to all USAS registered swimmers at least 13 years of age and no older than 18 years as of race day.

2.4 Mile USAS Rules

No wetsuits are allowed for the USAS 2.4 mile swim. Female suits may have shoulders with short sleeves. Male swimmers may not wear "tops" and their jammers may extend to just above the knee.

Awards

1st-3rd Male and Female will receive a Medal

All Participants who complete their race will receive a Finisher's Certificate

Race Course

The race course will start and finish at Satanka Cove at Horsetooth Reservoir. Please see the Maps page for more information.

Spectators/Parking

Please read the parking restrictions on maps page. Briefly, there is NO parking at the north end of the lake. Spectators are welcome to drive to the start of the 10K race (South Bay), but should not park there. If you do park there after the race start and do not buy a park pass, you will get ticketed.

Parking for all races is at Hughes stadium. Shuttle busses will take you to/from the north end. Please see the maps page for directions.
